Meet Up at The Red Lion Campsite East Kirkby near Spilsby in Lincolnshire

During the middle of June 2022, we met up with with several Youtube and Instagram social media creators, many being full time vanlifers including;

• Many Fun Adventures

• Campervan Gaz

• Lets Go Somewhere Travels and

• Catvando

During the meet up we paid a visit to the nearby Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, and had a really great time there. If you have not been to the museum, it is well worth a look, they have thousands of things to look at over several buildings. You can easily spend a few hours there, and the cost when we visited was £10.00 per person.

We stopped at the campsite at the rear of The Red Lion at East Kirkby, a cheap motorhome and caravan site, with both electric and non electric pitches. The Warden (foreman) there made us very welcome right from the moment we arrived, allowing us to go onto the pitch despite us being almost 2 hours early. The campsite can be easily booked through PitchUp.

The toilet and shower blocks were very clean, and recommended for anyone looking for a site with nice facilities. The shower water was lovely and warm, and there were no time sensitive tap valves to challenge you.

There wasn’t a shop on site, but on foot take a right turn out of the site entrance, and a short couple of hundred yard walk outside of the site, takes you to a local shop, a former petrol filling station, that sells most essentials. We managed to buy bacon and eggs on the morning we woke, having woken to the delicious and irresistible smell of others cooking!

The organiser of the meet up was Campervan Gaz, who runs the Facebook group East Midlands Firepit Camping. The meet ups that Gaz organises are great fun, and if you love a gathering around an evening fire, with a small group of friends, and with plenty of laughs and a bite to eat and a drink, then these are just the kind of meet ups that you will want to be at.

The Facebook group is open to new members, so please do pop along today and join, its free. There is another meeting being planned for Matlock in Derbyshire in August which should equally be great fun. Spaces are still available, but do hurry.
