Cumbrian Coastal Route (CCR 200)

The Lake District in Cumbria boasts not only picturesque lakes and mountains, but also miles of stunning coastline ranging from the Solway Firth in the north to Morecambe Bay in the south, featuring secluded beaches, historic castles, hidden lakes, and awe-inspiring mountains.

The interplay of sea and land has shaped the coastline, creating isolated bays, proud headlands, and storybook islands with rich histories of smuggling, the spice trade, and Iron Age forts. The area is also home to diverse wildlife and two areas of outstanding natural beauty, as well as numerous nature reserves.

With its unique character and traditional Cumbrian way of life, the coast of Cumbria is particularly worth exploring in 2023.
