Plans have been submitted to establish overnight parking areas for motorhomes at a scenic lakeside location in Eryri [Snowdonia]. The proposal calls for the creation of nine bays at Y Glyn car park near Llyn Padarn in Llanberis. The local council, Cyngor Gwynedd, will review a comprehensive planning application to build these stopping points in bay two of the car park at the popular lagoons leisure area.
The site, which is owned and managed by the council, is a popular destination for walkers, kayakers, swimmers, campervan enthusiasts, and day trippers in the summer. The plans for Llanberis include a motorhome service point with access to fresh water, a place to dispose of toilets and grey water, recycling and litter bins, as well as information points.
The overnight parking bays will have a maximum stay limit of 48 hours, and activities such as barbecuing, lighting fires, using awnings, or setting up tents will not be permitted. The plans state that the motorhome areas will be basic hardstanding spaces, designed for short-term use only.
